Article 1: Participants

Can compete to Laval Virtual Awards (« Trophies »): all companies, research laboratories or private individuals having realized or participated in the realization of projects using virtual or augmented reality technologies in the following domains:
• 1: Architecture, Art and Culture
• 2: Industrial Design and Simulation
• 3: Sciences and Education
• 4: Medicine and Health
• 5: 3D games and Entertainment
• 6: Business and Services
• 7: Automotive, Aeronautical and Transportation
• 8: Interfaces and Materials
• 9: Engineering, Assembly and Maintenance
• 10: Real-Time Characters and Virtual Worlds

A realization using virtual or augmented reality technologies contains computer-generated images calculated in real time on which one or several users can interact by means of interfaces (driving or sensory). All the actions of one or several users bring modifications in real time to the virtual scene. The original interfaces of interaction or display used in these realizations can also compete to Laval Virtual Awards.

 

Article 2: General Conditions

The participants have to submit to the organizers all the documents intended for the Jury before March 19rd, 2010. A video film presenting the realization is required (to see article 3). The eventual expenses of sending are chargeable to the participants. The nominated participants by the Jury are invited to participate in the Laval Virtual Awards Ceremony, which will take place on April 9, 2010 at Laval.

 

Article 3: Registrations

The registration has to be made on Laval Virtual’s website before March 19th, 2010. It will be accompanied:
• Of a film presenting the creation (duration = 2 minutes maximum, encoded in .mpeg, .avi or .mov) uploaded on our server or on a ftp link;
• Of photos and images describing realizations;
• Of the maximum of elements and technical information being able to help the jury to choose the prize-winners (file of presentation, clipping…)

All the materials: photos, videos (recorded in good quality on a CD or DVD or USB key, video cassettes are prohibited), documentation, press kit, etc. can also be mailed to:

Every realization can be registered in 1 or 2 categories (to see article 5), in case excessive, the committee of selection will eliminate the category excessively registered.

 

 Article 4: Selection

The Committee of selection, which determines the list of nominees, deliberates the admittance of realizations in Laval Virtual Awards (“Trophies”) without further right of appeal.

The video extracts of realizations presented during Laval Virtual Trophies are chosen by this same Committee of selection and are without further right of appeal.

The Jury saves itself the right not to award a Trophy in one or several categories if the quality of proposed realizations does not seem sufficient.

The decisions of the jury are without further right of appeal.

 

Article 5: Awards

Every prize-winner awards a Trophy in one of the following categories:
• 1: Architecture, Art and Culture
• 2: Industrial Design and Simulation
• 3: Sciences and Education
• 4: Medicine and Health
• 5: 3D games and Entertainment
• 6: Business and Services
• 7: Automotive, Aeronautical and Transportation
• 8: Interfaces and Materials
• 9: Engineering, Assembly and Maintenance
• 10: Real-Time Characters and Virtual Worlds

A specific Trophy is awarded: the Price of the Jury.

 

Article 6: The jury

The jury of Laval Virtual Awards ('Trophies') is composed of professionals of virtual reality technologies and of specialists of the varipous awarded domains. The results will be announced at first during the Ceremony of delivery of the Trophies, which will take place on April 7, 2010 at Laval.
